August 28, 1944 - Fixing bow doors where we liked to have tore them off when we hit jetty at Bob Hope’s show.

August 27, 1944 - Took Troops on the 7th Calvary to see a Bob Hope show. We had about 2000 troops going to the show and a little more coming back. We liked to have knocked the jetty down when we landed. We were the only ship beached where they were having the show. Went ashore to see the show. It was really good. There was Bob Hope, Francis Langford, Patty Thomas, Jerry Colona, Lanny Ross and some more. Bob Hope landed just in front of the 740.

I also looked over some piper cubs they had at the place.
