March 18, 1945 - Arrived at Leyte Island. Got mail aboard.

November 3, 1944 - Got 3 letters. Saw a movie on (LST) 668. Tied up to a tanker and took on fuel.

November 1, 1944 - Got more mail, five letters.

October 30, 1944 - Still in Humbolt Bay, Hollandia. Got mail again. I only got a couple of letters. The scuttlebutt is that we are waiting for a task force to go in on an invasion at Luzon.

Sept 30, 1944 - Morning. Hit Morotai again about the same place as before. Got first mail in 37 days. Since Manul (Manus?) Evening. Unloaded. Had our first fire at enemy planes. Thress came over pretty high but within sight and every ship in the bay and all of the guns on shore were firing at them but they must have been out of reach of our guns. Didn't no one get them. They didn't drop any bombs as we could see. They were probably coming for observation. Night. Left Morotai heading for Sansapor New Guinea to pick up troops for invasion.

August 24, 1944 - Got more mail.

August 16, 1944 - Sighted Manus Island in the Admiralty group. Entered Seeadler Harbor. Received first mail in fifty-one days, since Panama. This is a jungily looking place.
