February 12, 1945 - Evening - Got underway for Tolosa Waterhole on Samar. Anchored off beach. You can see a pretty waterfall back in the hills. Me and another guy fished some and didn’t catch any fish; although we did get some bites.

January 17, 1945 - In Leyte Gulf - Evening - anchored in San Pedro Bay between Leyte and Samar. There are a lot of natives in canoes around the ship.
