April 3, 1945 - Departed Hollandia.

April 1, 1945 - Arrived at Hollandia. The harbor seems empty now to what it did last time we were here. Went to Waterhole and took on water.

March 31, 1945 - Arrive at Hollandia tomorrow.

March 23, 1945 - Got underway for Hollandia, Dutch New Guinea.

December 17, 1944 - Departed Hollandia for Sansapor.

November 22 - December 16, 1944 - Got mail on board almost every day although I didn’t get mail everyday. Painted part of the radio shack with a mixture of red, black, and blue which makes an indescribable color although it does look ok. Went to water hole and took on water, got to see a movie while there. Tied up to a tanker and took on fuel. I got to see about 5 movies while in the bay this time. Bills got transferred to the hospital because of ulcers. We went back to the water hole before we left.

November 21, 1944 - Arrived at Hollandia, Dutch New Guinea.

November 20, 1944 - Due at Hollandia tomorrow.

November 16, 1944 - Arrived at Leyte about 2 am and GQ sounded. We shall continue GQ (general headquarters) the rest of the day. We beached about 8 o’clock and began unloading immediately. Finished unloading shortly after noon. Retracted from beach and anchored in bay while waiting for other ships to unload. We had two or three air raids while at Leyte, but no planes came over. They were further up the beach. We beached at Trainian Head at San Jose this time, just across the island from Ormoc Bay. Night - started back for Hollandia.

November 12, 1944 - 668’s port engine went out, so they had to turn back to Neomfoor or Hollandia one, so the Commander of LST group 22 (Pope) and his staff transferred to our ship. We are now flag of group 22. When they were transferred in the small boat, the small boats engine went out, so we had to leave our place in the front of the column and go back and pick up the small boat. We were about 8 miles behind the convoy by the time we did that, but we are in our original place now.

November 5, 1944 - Morning, left Hollandia. Evening - had firing practice at a sleeve. The sea is really rough.

October 30, 1944 - Still in Humbolt Bay, Hollandia. Got mail again. I only got a couple of letters. The scuttlebutt is that we are waiting for a task force to go in on an invasion at Luzon.

October 29, 1944 - Evening arrived at Hollandia New Guinea. There are still about 100 ships in the harbor.

October 14, 1944 - Morning - arrived at Hollandia. There are around 200 ships in here ranging in size from LCI’s to the big transports. A big task force had left the day we had arrived to go in on D-Day.

October 13, 1944 - Uneventful. Due to arrive at Hollandia Dutch New Guinea in the morning and wait on a task force to leave for the Philippines invasion.

October 11, 1944 - Left Sansapor Dutch New Guinea for Hollandia Dutch New Guinea.

Sept 27, 1944 - Passed equator again. Aussies on board that hadn't gone across the equator before were initiated by their buddies that had. They were all good sports about the initiation. They seem to all be swell guys. They are not much different from the Americans. Another ship in our convoy has our mail. They got it at Hollandia. I guess we will get it when we reach Morotai but I don't know when we will get to mail any letters. Some more LSTs joined us today making 12 in all.

Sept 25, 1944 - Left Aitape for Morotai. Passing New Guinea all morning. Evening. Passed Hollandia. Picked up two more LSTs making eight LSTs, three destroyers and a DE in our convoy. Will probably pick up more ships at Maffin Bay. Two ships cut through our convoy and we liked to have had a collision. We also liked to have run into one of the LSTs in our convoy.

Sept 22, 1944 - Sighted New Guinea. Changed orders and proceeding to Aitape. Dark. Can see lights from Hollandia. Let LCI off.

Sept 13, 1944 - Started early morning for Hollandia to meet other parts of task force. Arrived off Hollandia in early afternoon. Went on to another place off New Guinea and met some more task force. We are going to Morotai near Halmahera in the Moluccas group. We are going to land the third day (18th). D-Day is 7 o’clock local time Sept 15. They are going to hit Palau at the same time.
