May 11, 1945 - Morning - Finished loading. The natives worked in shifts and stuck to the job all night. Noon - retracted from beach and anchored in area. We saw a couple of big turtles swimming in the water. Afternoon - Departed Saidor for Finchshafen New Guinea. We arrive tomorrow.

February 26, 1945 - Still loading. We have only a small load topside. The tank deck load in mostly sleds. Evening - Got underway to the other side of the island to take on water at the Navy dock there. The Navy dock is made of pontoons fastened together. Night - Went ashore and saw movie “Tall in the Saddle”. This is the nicest laid out camp I’ve seen since I left the States. We heard 2 PT boats sank some Jap barges last night off of Halamahera.

January 23, 1945 - We lost our stern anchor when we beached and we had to have a tug come and pick it up before we could retract from the beach. We finally retracted about nightfall. We are loaded up with bombs, trucks and high octane gasoline. We are carrying some MP’s and some Air Corp men. We are in a D-Day convoy, but we do not have a D-Day load. We do not yet know where we will go.

January 22, 1945 - Morning - Beached at Catmon Hill Beach to take on a load. The Army camp on the beach is in the middle of a native village of about 50 or 60 houses. Noon - Retracted from the beach and moved further down the beach. There is still a lot of native huts on the beach. We are about 30 miles from Tacloban. There are some coconut trees on the beach with some hills in the background, making it look a lot better than that jungle of New Guinea. Night - loading cargo.

December 27, 1944 - Hit the beach and loaded up with 13 LVT’s, 4 General Sherman tanks, 2 catepillar tractors, 1 large craneon tank deck. Also, one side of the tank deck was loaded with all kinds of ammuntion and mortar shells. At the back we had about 50 drums of high octane gasoline and some other food supplies. On the top deck we had one Piper Cub dismantled in a truck. We also had about a dozen trucks and trailers - two of the trailers had quad mount 50 caliber machine guns on them. We also have a field 40mm and over 700 officers and infantry men.

November 7, 1944 - Arrived at Neomfoor. Evening loaded up with Army and equipment.

October 8, 1944 - Finished loading Army engineers and equipment, retracted from beach. Anchored in the bay.

October 7, 1944 - Beached to pick up engineers. Started loading that night.

Sept 24, 1944 - Morning. Loading up with Australians and heavy road machines. Went ashore to get walkie talkie fixed. Went about 5 miles up beach. The place is running over with jeeps, trucks, ducks, tanks, and other equipment. They really have this place fortified. There are all kinds of tropical trees down here but mostly coconut palms. The place is really muddy. There is an LCI broached on the beach. I think the surf caused it to broach. There was also an LCVP broached but the boys got it off. Afternoon- man fell overboard from stern anchor and got banged up really bad. They sent him to the hospital. Retracted from beach. Anchored in harbor for the night.

Sept 12, 1944 - Finished loading equipment and got our troop aboard about noon, left and anchored offshore. Beach

Sept 11, 1944 - Arrived at Ataipe Berlin Harbor British New Guinea. We are going to pick up engineers. We started loading trucks and jeeps, bulldozers and other equipment just afternoon.

June 6, 1944 - Arrived at Gulfport and started loading up with pink salmon, asparagus and spinach. That tank deck really holds a load.
